Lil Silva – Making Sense // Selected by Leo Saunders

Carrying on from the use of his amazing feature in George Fitzgerald’s ‘Roll Back’ earlier in the year, Lil Silva is moving forward with his more vocal approach, combining silky vocals with warm oscillating synths. He’s come along since ‘Seasons’.

Outer Heaven – Untitled Jungle // Selected by Algy Falconer

Featuring on the ‘Blunted Breaks Vol. 1 Sampler’ for Western Lore. Coventry artist Outer Heaven matches up grime lead stabs with jungle amen breaks, creating a real dance floor monster.

Djrum – Sex // Selected by Alexander Shovell

‘Sex’ comes from Djrum’s long awaited second album ‘Portrait With Firewood’ released via R&S. The track focuses on layers of moody synths, tight drums and percussion, topped with gentle keys and strings.

Album of the year?

Ternion Sound – Hopeless // Selected by Hugsy Maloné

Ternion Sound’s ‘Hopeless’ is a one-way ticket to weighty town, adding a dark bass-line with rising menacing tones, that echo throughout. It’s out on Distance’s Chestplate, need we say more.

Quiet Pill – Five Windmills // Selected by James Dennis

Sell releasing on their label Quiet Pill Records. ‘Five Windmills’ is a smooth lo-fi ride, where sultry melodies meet hazy kicks and vocal snippets, perfect for the last days of summer!

DJRachael4Raynsom – Ntogo Ntoko // Selected by Thomas Richardson

Rhythmic percussion and an infectious flute make up the most of this playful African roller, from DJRachael’s upcoming album, expect more heat like this.

Bliss Signal – Drift EP // Selected by Joe Innes

Bliss Signal the new project from Mumdance and WIFE’s James Kelly. Fusing the Different Circles boss’ weightless drone ambient style, with the loud and heavy approach of WIFE’s metal, they’ve created three pieces of hard-hitting shoe-gazing wonder.

Noer the Boy – Dark Dub // Selected by Nicolas Robillard

Portlands Noer the Boy’s ‘Dark Dub’ does exactly what it says on the tin. Dark threatening kicks develop with evil tones, creating a really disturbing 140 cut. This is part of his new weekly releases, so keep your eyes peeled.

Ratgrave – Icarus // Selected by Lou Rey

In this short but sweet number from Ratgrave (Max Graef & Julius Conrad) the pair dabbles in the P-Funk of George Clinton while retaining the smooth jazziness of Graef’s past work, out now via Funkineven’s Apron Records.

Sworn Virgins – Fifty Dollar Bills // Selected by Lou Rey

The swinging Lo-Fi debut from New York-based Sworn Virgins, ‘Fifty Dollar Bills’ incorporates spoken word vocal samples with infectious drums and licks of funky guitar adding in aqueous synths for the journey. Released via Soulwax’s DEEWEE.
